When I was in college, I lived with a boyfriend and every Saturday we woke up and watched Jacques Pépin's cooking show, Cooking with Claudine. Claudine, his daughter, was totally useless. Thanks to Jacques, however, I know how to butterfly a chicken, sharpen a knife, carve swan out of a honeydew melon, and a host of other kitchen tricks. And what did I learn how to make this morning? A caramel cage.
